Theme 1 - Killer diseases

The first theme in this year is "Killer diseases". In this year, we will focus on the No. 1 killer - Heart diseases.

Heart disease is an umbrella term for a variety of different diseases affecting the heart. As of 2007, it is the leading cause of death in the United States, England, Canda and Wales, killing one person every 34 seconds in the United States alone.

During these two weeks, display boards were placed near the main entrance, which introduced what heart diseases are and the methods of prevention.

From 26th of September to 3rd of October, there was a quiz booth near the boards.

 

Introduction to Heart diseases

 

The curve shown above is the trend of deaths due to diseases of the heart, which is released by a recent survey conducted by the American Heart Association.

Being a No. 1 killer in the USA, the death rate due the heart diseases has been esculating in these hundred years. Although the death rate seems to be declining in the recent years, I think that we should be alarmed that we should start keeping our heart healthy.
